Step into a world where fairies, elves and folkies come together in a celebration of music, dance and imagination. The Fantasy Ball is a joyful community dance event that invites everyone to leave the ordinary behind and embrace an evening of whimsy, wonder and connection.
With the lively sounds of the Crooked Compass Club providing the soundtrack and the bubbly Susie Bolliger calling the dances, you'll be guided through a series of easy, fun folk dances that are welcoming to complete beginners while still delighting experienced dancers. No partner or previous dance experience is needed—just bring your sense of adventure.
Whether you arrive as a woodland sprite, a wandering bard, a mischievous goblin, a noble elf, or simply as your wonderfully creative self, costumes are warmly encouraged but never required. Expect a hall filled with magical characters, lively tunes, laughter and the shared joy of dancing together.

Some helpful hints to fully enjoy the magical evening of dancing and laughter ahead:
Feel free to dress as whimsically as you’d like. This is the event that you can wear that glittering vest or gown that has patiently been waiting to make it’s debut in the back of your wardrobe. Elf ears, flower crowns and thrifted dreams are encouraged! Just be sure to check you can hitch up any long dress-trains or cloaks.
Make sure you wear comfy shoes so you can fully enjoy tearing it up on the dancefloor.
If you’re someone who can be sensitive to loud noise, feel free to wear noise reduction earplugs so that you can fully enjoy the night.
Tap water will be available to refill any water bottles that you bring.
Free street parking is available around the Coorparoo School of Arts and Memorial Hall venue.
If you’re looking for somewhere to have dinner beforehand, there are various restaurants in and around Coorparoo Square which is an easy 5 minute walk from the venue.
Please note, that this event is for Fae and Folkies to enjoy a good boogie and attendees are not permitted to possess or bring to the event any actual weapons. For more detailed descriptions and definitions of banned items, please check the Queensland Government’s Weapons Act 1990.
